KA450 Speech audiometry
The KA450 audiometer can perform speech audiometry in three different ways.
On the one hand, it is possible to play speech material from an external source - usually a CD player - into the device and present it to the patient at calibrated sound pressure levels. This type of speech audiometry is referred to as "external speech".
However, it is also possible to play voice material from a built-in memory card without connecting a CD player. This mode, known as "internal speech", offers various advantages, which are explained in detail in the following chapter.
In addition, the examiner can also provide the patient with speech material in the form of "live speech" via the built-in microphone or via an externally connected microphone.
The device switches to speech audiometry mode by pressing the "Speech" button (13). Depending on the device settings (see chapter 6 Settings menu) "Speech audiometry à Test start", the external speech test, the internal speech test, the live language or a menu that allows you to choose between one of the three tests is started directly.
Note: The speech audiometry page must be switched before the test. If the device is operated with PC software, this is ensured by the PC software.
