Connecting devices to the KA450 USB interface

The KA450 has an optional USB interface for connection to a PC. The USB interface is electrically isolated and therefore fulfills the requirements of EN 60601-1 (Medical electrical equipment, general requirements for safety) and EN 60601-1-1 (Safety requirements for medical electrical systems), but only if the PC used as a non-medical device complies with EN 60950 and the applicable international EMC standards (electromagnetic compatibility).

If the PC is located directly within the patient environment and does not comply with EN 60601-1, it must be operated via an isolating transformer that complies with EN 60601-1.
