Weekly subjective device check KA450

A weekly subjective check of the audiometer gives the examiner confidence in the values determined during an examination and also serves to detect faults in the device at an early stage. We recommend that the examining staff carry out the weekly check according to the following checklist and document it in the device logbook. If the audiometer is used infrequently, the interval between device checks can be longer. If faults or defects are detected during the device check, please contact your authorized specialist dealer or service partner immediately.

Visual inspection

□All operating elements are smooth-running, not bent or over-twisted, plugs, mains and accessory cables undamaged; no signs of ageing

Sealing cushions of the headphones have no cracks, tears or signs of ageing (replace if necessary)

Testing at low levels

□ No interference, no signal from the other channel, no change in sound quality when the masking sound is switched on

□ dB divider - attenuation in order

□ dB divider without mechanical and electrical noise

Sound switch (mute button) mechanically quiet

□ Sound emitted by the audiometer not audible to the subject

Testing at higher levels (e.g. at 60 dB via air conduction and 40 dB via bone conduction)

□ In both air receivers and the bone receiver, perfect function at all frequencies and settings, distortion-free, no sound switch noise

□ Test person response system (hand button, display) in order

□ Complete audiogram of a person with normal hearing

Speech audiometer part

Level display is at the target value (0 dB on the VU meter for speech-simulating noise or CCITT noise on the speech CD)

Speech signal and masking noise at low levels

□ No background noise (e.g. inherent noise of the playback device or humming) for all transducers

□ No "crosstalk" from the other channel (e.g. signal on the left can be heard on the right)

□ No change in sound quality when the masking noise is switched on, level controls attenuate the speech and masking signal over the entire dB divider range

Speech signal at higher levels (e.g. speech level 50 dB via air line and 30 dB via bone line)

□ Flawless function and no distortion

□ Test signals and subject response can be heard perfectly at the audiometrist's position
