Living language KA450
The operation of the live language is very similar to that of the external language.
The "Language" button (13) allows you to set the playback of track I (15), track II (14) or both tracks (both indicators light up), whereby the same signal is offered on both tracks anyway.
Use the "Transducer selection" button (1) to select the desired output and then use the "Side" button (6) to set the test side to right (8) or left (7). If only one loudspeaker is connected for free-field measurements, the side to which it is connected must be selected.
The volume can now be preset using the level control (42, 47). The masking mode and level are set in the same way as described for tone audiometry.
The voice test can now be started by speaking into the built-in microphone or via an externally connected microphone.
During the test, the device provides a counter for words correctly and incorrectly reproduced by the test person. Press the "Counter / Correct" button (36) to increase the counter for correctly understood words and the "Incorrect" button (37) to increase the counter for incorrectly understood words.
In addition to these two counters, the LC display shows the intelligibility (ratio of correctly understood words to the total number of words) and the discrimination loss (ratio of incorrectly understood words to the total number of words).
The counters can be reset by pressing the "Clear" button (33).
Please note!
Before the examination, make sure that the VU meter settings for the microphone are set correctly.
You must make the settings at approximately the same distance from the microphone and at the same speaking volume as later in the test. When you speak, the VU meter should go down to about -3dB.
Warning!
If you are using the live speech function in an open field, the loudspeakers must be located in another room or hearing test booth. Make sure that the patient has put the receiver on correctly. Only increase the output level carefully. If the warning is not observed, there is a risk of loud feedback noises (whistling sound).
