The maximum permissible noise level in the test room varies depending on the required measuring ranges:

If frequencies down to 125 Hz are to be measured, the permissible noise levels in the low-frequency range are somewhat lower than if you can restrict yourself to frequencies >= 250 Hz.
If the hearing threshold is to be determined down to 0 dB, the permissible noise levels are lower than if the hearing threshold is determined down to +5 dB.
